Disclosure of Conflict of Interest

Following the guidelines below, we kindly request the oral presenters at the JSME Annual Meeting to disclose any conflicts of interest(COI) during their presentations.　If any errors or false statements are found, the abstract submission may not be accepted. Furthermore, if errors or false statements are identified after submission, the presentation may be withdrawn.

The COI to be disclosed must follow the latest “Ethics and Conflict of Interest” regulations of the Japan Society for Medical Education:

Additionally, at the Board of Directors meeting of the Japan Society for Medical Education held on November 4, 2025, it was approved that, in addition to conventional financial COI, academic COI (① committee memberships, ② the presenter’s professional background, and ③ research interests) must also be disclosed.

Following the guidelines below, we kindly request the oral presenters at the JSME Annual Meeting to disclose any conflicts of interest(COI) during their presentations.

When presenting an abstract, oral presenters should post their presentation on the second slide(following the title slide), and poster presenters should post their presentation on the last slide.

Items and conditions to be declared:

  1. For directors and advisors of companies, corporate organizations, or for-profit organizations related to clinical research (hereinafter referred to as "companies, organizations, or associations"), the amount of remuneration from one company, organization, or association must be JPY 1,000,000 or more per year.
  2. For stock ownership, the amount of profit (total of dividends and profits from the sale of stocks)from one company for one year must be at least 1 million yen.
    1,000,000 yen or more or 5％ or more of the total shares of the company.
  3. For patent royalties from a company, organization, or association, the annual royalty fee for a single right shall be JPY 1,000,000 or more.
  4. For daily allowances (lecture fees, etc.) paid by a company, organization, or association for time and effort spent by the researcher in attending (presenting at) a conference, the total annual lecture fee from one company or association must be 500,000 yen or more.
  5. Manuscript fees paid by a company, organization, or association for writing a pamphlet or other document should total at least 500,000 yen per year from a single company, organization, or association.
  6. For research funds provided by a company, organization, or association, the total amount paid by a company, organization, or association for clinical research (contracted research funds, joint research funds, etc.) must be at least 2 million yen per year.
  7. For scholarship (incentive) donations provided by a company, organization, or group, the total amount paid by a company, organization, or group to an individual filer or to a representative of the department (course, field) or laboratory to which the filer belongs must be 2 million yen or more per year.
  8. Cases in which the declarant is a member of an endowed course offered by a company, organization, or institution.
  9. Other donations such as travel and gifts not directly related to research, if the total amount received from a single company, organization, or group is 50,000 yen or more per year.
