2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake
Our hearts go out to you and all those affected by the earthquake.

January 2024

At around 4:10 p.m on January 1st, 2024, the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula. This earthquake caused extensive damage and tsunami in Ishikawa and other prefectures. We would like to express our sincere condolences and sympathy toward the people who lost their lives, and to the people living and working in the affected areas.
On January 1st, Japanese Association of Occupational Therapists (JAOT) established a Disaster Response Headquarters to implement disaster countermeasures, including information provision, human support, relief supplies, financial support, and other necessary assistance, in close contact with prefectural occupational therapist associations in the affected areas.
We have received messages of sympathy from occupational therapy associations in other countries for the damage caused by the earthquake. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your warm encouragement.
I would also like to inform you that the 8th Asia Pacific Occupational Therapy Congress will be held as scheduled in November 2024.
