It has been decided that the 6th International Nursing Research Conference of World Academy of Nursing Science will be held in the Osaka International Convention Center on February 28 (Fri.) to 29 (Sat.), 2020.
The 1st International Nursing Research Conference of World Academy of Nursing Science was held in Kobe, Japan in 2009, and I remember researchers who gathered from all over the world. The event will mark 11 years in February next year, and it is our great pleasure to meet you all here in Osaka.

The theme of this Conference is “Knowledge Development in Nursing for Better Health and Life of the People in the World: Sharing the Local Knowledge for Universal Knowledge”. I think that knowledge is something that always comes into the world to be then continuously refined, while the knowledge of nursing is most beneficial when it is reflected in human health and living. I believe that creation of knowledge is not just academic development, but evidence-based awareness that is and will remain useful to nursing as well as to health and living of people in society.

I wish that the students making their first steps in profession, young researchers, and experts changing the society based on evidence will gather here to make sense of the wisdom of world nursing, and to share a meaningful time.

The Japanese society is aging, and such wisdom is needed to maintain safe and peaceful human living. The aged society is likely to become an issue for the rest of the world as well. In addition, Japan is located in a part of Asia exposed to numerous disasters; earthquakes, typhoons, volcano eruptions, and other calamities occur frequently in this small island country. No matter how technology is developed, I think that our uncertain times require building a society of mutual support and care.

Thus, we would like to send themes of ‘aged society’, ‘ceaseless disasters’, and ‘science of care’ as a message from Japan. We hope that member organizations of the World Academy of Nursing Science will present their achievements in research, practice, system building etc. to share with all participants. We are also seeking for projects for active information exchange among the participants. We aim at a conference that would provide various people with an opportunity to get familiar with hot-topic phenomena. We are looking forward to new knowledge to be brought by overseas participants, and hope that the conference will become an opportunity to discuss and motivate each other.

Osaka International Convention Center is located in the central part of Osaka, the city of rivers, and is accessible by walk, subway, or train. You will surely enjoy Osaka as the city of food.

We are looking forward to your participation.
