The 35th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of CardioVascular Intervention and Therapeutics;CVIT2027
President: Junji Yajima
(The Cardiovascular Institute)

I would like to extend my greetings on the occasion of the 35th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of CardioVascular Intervention and Therapeutics (CVIT2027). The meeting will be held over three days, from July 15th (Thursday) to 17th (Saturday), 2027, at the Tokyo International Forum, as it was last year.

The theme of CVIT2027 is “Transfer of Technology and Knowledge.” When I first became a doctor, coronary intervention was limited to balloon dilation only. Fortunately, new devices such as DCA, Rotablator, and stents were subsequently launched, and we were able to spend time gaining experience with each device, as well as have the opportunity to carefully consider the advantages and disadvantages of each device. Today’s young doctors, however, are training in an environment where a wide variety of devices and techniques have already been established, so their education is completely different. While I often share with younger doctors the history of the techniques we now use, I have not been able to pass on all the information, including techniques and devices that have become obsolete. Furthermore, I have not been able to fully convey all PCI techniques, including guidewire manipulation. Accordingly, at CVIT2027 I would like to incorporate numerous programs (live demonstrations, panel discussions, educational lectures, etc.) aimed at passing on skills and knowledge to young doctors, in line with this year’s theme.
I have a long-standing concern about the language of presentations at the CVIT academic conference. In the Q&A sessions, since English is not the native language, the conversations in English often break down, resulting in many inadequate presentations. Nothing beats one’s native language for technical communication, and given this year’s theme of “Transfer of Technology and Knowledge,” I would like to significantly increase the proportion of Japanese presentations, to facilitate active and truly substantive presentations and Q&A sessions.
In addition, we plan to organize lectures, panel discussions, and symposiums focusing on various timely topics, such as the current state of information exchange among young cardiologists using social media and the clinical results of new treatments (renal denovation, peripheral debulking devices, etc.).
While still in the planning stages, we are striving to make CVIT2027 an academic conference that participants will find worthwhile, so please join us!
