Welcome Message

Message from the organizers

Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and honor to welcome you to the 23rd International Symposium on Hepatitis C Virus and Related Viruses in Kyoto from 11 to 15 October 2016.

Since the great success of the first meeting in Venice in 1992, this meeting has been continued and contributed in the progress of research of hepatitis C virus (HCV) and related viruses.

The goal of this meeting is to provide a comprehensive forum for the discussion and dissemination of the most recent developments in the research on HCV and related viruses. Although introduction of direct acting antiviral regimens can now safely cure most hepatitis C patients, implementation of this approach is complicated by the cost of the antivirals and emergence of drug-resistant breakthrough viruses.

Kyoto is one of the most beautiful, cultural, and historical cities in Japan and has taken top place in the Times Inc.’s Travel + Leisure’s annual World’s Best City list in both 2014 and 2015. During the symposium in Kyoto, we guarantee you will have a plenty of opportunities not only that satisfy your scientific interests but also that allow you to enjoy our culture and history of Japan.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all in Kyoto in October 2016.

Sincerely,

Yoshiharu Matsuura, DVM, PhD
Tetsuro Suzuki, PhD
Takaji Wakita, MD, PhD
Kazuhiko Koike, MD, PhD
