The 35th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Breast Cancer Society

PresidentYutaka Yamamoto, MD, PhD
Department of Breast and Endocrine Surgery,
Kumamoto University Hospital

It is my great honor to host the 35th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Breast Cancer Society in Kumamoto from July 8 (Thu) to 10 (Sat), 2027, with Kumamoto-Jo Hall as the main venue.

The theme of the meeting is "Collaborate, Create, and Carry Forward — Empowering Wisdom: Advancing Innovation in Breast Cancer." Our aim is to collaborate across disciplines around patient-centered care, create new evidence and value through this partnership, and carry forward the knowledge and commitment to the next generation. We believe this patient-centered cycle is the foundation of true innovation in breast cancer care and research.

The landscape of breast cancer care is evolving rapidly. A key challenge is how to translate the latest global evidence into clinical practice and research in Japan. This meeting will address that challenge directly, with open discussion of the barriers and concrete strategies to overcome them. We will also focus on strengthening evidence dissemination from Japan, advancing multidisciplinary care, and fostering the next generation of clinicians and researchers. We warmly invite participation and presentations from all attendees, and look forward to substantive discussions that will shape the future direction of breast cancer care and research. The meeting will be held on-site, with live streaming and on-demand viewing also available.

Kumamoto offers much to enjoy beyond the academic program: the majestic mountains of Mt. Aso, the scenic islands of Amakusa, the historic Kumamoto Castle of Lord Kato Kiyomasa, renowned hot spring areas such as Yamaga and Kurokawa, and distinctive local cuisine including basashi (horse sashimi) and karashi-renkon (mustard-stuffed lotus root). We hope you will take time to experience the region during your stay.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kumamoto in July 2027.
