‘One Step Ahead, Together!
-ASPA2020 and JSPA2020-

The Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists (ASPA) 2020 and the Japanese Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology 2020 (JSPA) warmly invite anaesthesiologists with an interest in the field of paediatrics to learn, think, and grow with their international colleagues. The Honorary President of the ASPA 2020, Dr. Masao Yamashita, is pleased to announce that the theme of this meeting will be ‘One Step Ahead, Together!

Within paediatric anaesthesiology, young clinicians are often unable to find their way past the technical issues of their daily cases. They need to completely prepare for each case, check its specific points, predict what could happen, and monitor variations. Meanwhile, experts are essential to adequately train all young anaesthesiologists and oversee their performance, whilst also finding motivation to develop themselves.

Let’s now have the courage to take one step ahead, together. Our goals for the meeting are

●To learn knowledge and techniques for our next paediatric cases.
●To further understand basic medicine, including physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and surgical techniques.
●To listen to and give presentations and hold discussions within an international meeting.
●To be able to go forward and perform paediatric anaesthesia at a higher level and with greater confidence.
●To explore our own direction as leaders or educators.
●For everything to go wonderfully!

I hope that many of you will join us in Sendai to take part in the Together! discussion, wherein numerous experts in the field of paediatric anaesthesia, including anaesthesiologists, medical staff, researchers, and patients with their families, will be joining us.

ASPA was established in 2000, thanks to the passion of Dr. Masao Yamashita and his international colleagues, and since its inception, each meeting has helped to improve paediatric anaesthesia standards in Asia by enabling us to discuss various issues at the same level as other fields of paediatric medicine. JSPA also has a long history, and the late Professor of Tohoku University, Yasuhiko Hashimoto, had held its 4th meeting in 1998 in Sendai, Japan. We plan to meditate in-depth on the future of paediatric anaesthesiology during this meeting, and I hope every participant will find it enriching for their own medical practice.

 Sincerely yours,

 June 16, 2020
