Session Title: Protein Aggregation and Diseases

Session Summary
Amyloid deposition, a specific form of fibrillar protein aggregates, is a hallmark of many amyloidoses and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. We will share with the audience basic structures of amyloid fibrils and mechanisms of protein conversion from healthy normal states to amyloid fibrils, as a prelude to the "Biophysics of Diseases" session scheduled on the same day.
