脚本家。
1948年9月10日 秋田市生まれの東京育ち。
武蔵野美術大学卒業後、三菱重工業(株) 入社。
13年半のOL生活を経て、1988年に日本テレビ水曜グランドロマン「バラ」で脚本家デビュー。
2003年4月 東北大学大学院 文学研究科 宗教学研究室に入学。2006年3月に修了。

“Big Trials in Coronary Revascularisation: Do We Finally Have the Answer?”

Dr. Marc Ruel - Short Biography
Dr. Marc Ruel is the Michael Pitfield Professor and Chair of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He was born in Québec City, received his medical doctor degree from the University of Ottawa in 1994, and his specialist certification in Cardiac Surgery in 2000. He pursued minimally invasive surgery and basic science training at Harvard Medical School, and in 2002 he completed a Masters in Quantitative Methods from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. Ruel’s areas of predilection are minimally invasive coronary and valve surgery, heart transplantation, LVADs, as well as complex and repeat cardiac operations. He developed and taught in many countries minimally invasive multivessel coronary bypass grafting -now commonly performed around the world-, and introduced several other novel cardiac surgical techniques on the international scene.
In Ottawa, Dr. Ruel established a thriving regenerative medicine research program that has been continuously funded by national funding agencies for over 15 years. Dr. Ruel is the recipient of many awards, including the Gold Medal in Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Dr. Ruel led multiple studies and trials in valve and coronary surgery, including the CASCADE trial and the recently funded, international MIST randomized controlled trial, which compares outcomes after minimally invasive bypass surgery (via small thoracotomy) versus conventional bypass surgery (via sternotomy).
As Chair of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Ottawa since 2013, he grew his Division’s size and clinical volume, its focus on top quality care, its translational and clinical research outputs, its advanced education mandate, its dedicated long-term follow-up structure, and its focus on surgical innovation.
Dr. Ruel has authored more than 300 scientific publications and written acclaimed textbooks on Cardiac Surgery Techniques as well as on Cardiac Regeneration. He serves as Chairman of the Council on Cardio-Vascular Surgery and Anesthesia at the American Heart Association, as well as an editorial board member and Editor for Circulation. He serves on the executive of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, and the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Dr. Ruel was recently recognized by the American Heart Association for his outstanding leadership.
