[Cancellation of the 111th Annual Congress of Japan Surgical Society]

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to express sincere gratitude for many sympathetic and heartfelt messages received since the disaster on March 11, 2011 in north-eastern Japan. We also pray for our fellow people who are suffering from the terrible tragedy.

Since the disastrous event, we, members of Board of Japan Surgical Society, have been considering and assessing the impact on our congress in May, and we came to the conclusion that we should not hold the congress this time./p>

It is our great regret to cancel the 111th Annual Congress of JSS and we are sorry for our overseas colleagues who have anticipated participating in the Congress.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused, but we appreciate kind understanding towards it.

Thank you again for your kind cooperation towards the 111th Annual Congress of Japan Surgical Society, and hope to have another opportunity to meet you in the near future.
