On behalf of the organizing committee, it is a great pleasure and honor for us to host The First Asian Otology Meeting & The 3rd East Asian Symposium on Otology in Nagasaki, Japan on June 2-3, 2012. The meeting will be held at Nagasaki Brick Hall in conjunction with the 9th International Conference on Cholesteatoma and Ear Surgery on 3-7 June 2012, in Nagasaki, Japan.
European otologists founded the European Academy of Otology & Neuro-Otology (EAONO) in accordance with the academic globalization in the field of otology and they succeeded in establishing an organization that expanded education programs, defined a research strategy, and strengthened closer communication between European otologists. Furthermore, EAONO has also closely collaborated with the American Otological Society. The 1st Contemporary Opinion on Otology in East Asia was held in Seoul, Korea in 2008 and Taiwan otologists hosted the 2nd East Asian Symposium on Otology in Taipei on November 26-28, 2010. ASEAN otologists already held the 1st ASEAN Academy of Otology Neurotology and Audiology Congress in Manila, Philippines in 2008.
These circumstances suggested the need to establish the Asian Otology Meeting where all Asian otologists could gather and discuss important otological issues in Asia. Several leading otologists from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan have stressed that we should hold such a meeting and thereby requested that we all support this project. This meeting would provide a fascinating and stimulating opportunity for all Asians involved in otology to share research, clinical practices and educational training specific our different regional needs.
It is our hope that all Asian otologists will give their full support by attending this inaugural meeting for the Asian otologists.
Finally, we would like to cordially invite you to join us at The First Asian Otology Meeting & The 3rd East Asian Symposium on Otology in Nagasaki in 2012.
With Best Regards,

President
Ken Kitamura, MD
