Dear colleagues and friends,

We are delighted to invite you to participate in 8th Asia-Oceania Conference on Obesity (AOCO2015) to be held from October 2 to 4, 2015 in Nagoya, Japan, with the theme “Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome -from Science to Clinical Practice-”.

AOCO is hosted by Asia Oceania Association for the Study of Obesity (AOASO) established in 1998. AOASO consists of 12 members including AIAARO (India), ANZOS (Australia and New Zealand), HKASO (Hong Kong), ISSO (Indonesia), JASSO (Japan), KSSO (South Korea), MASO (Malaysia), SASO (Singapore), PASOO (The Philippines), TMASO (Taiwan) and TSSO (Thailand).

Message from President AOASO

Dear Colleagues,

AOASO is proud to announce that the 8th Asia-Oceania Conference on Obesity (AOCO 2015) will be hosted by Japan Society for the Study of Obesity in conjunction of JASSO 36th Annual Meeting from 2-4 October 2015 in Nagoya Congress Center, Nagoya, Japan.

AOCO biennial conference series began in 2001 in Maebashi, Japan, followed by Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2003), Taipei, Taiwan (2005), Seoul, Korea (2007), Mumbai, India (2009), Manila, Philippines (2011) and Bandung, Indonesia (2013).

The countries in Asia-Oceania region are in different stages of developmental and demographic transition where obesity with it’s related co-morbidities have now emerge to be a major public health problem in this region. Hosting the AOCO is part of our efforts to keep abreast of the current status in member countries and learn from each other on how we could curb the ever rising obesity epidemic.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank JASSO for organizing AOCO 2015 and it is my sincere hope that AOASO member countries will support this event in the true spirit of Asia-Oceania solidarity.

I look forward to welcoming you in Nagoya, Japan.

Emeritus Professor Mohd Ismail Noor President AOASO (2014-2018)
